Update (August 2010)
1. EPI has secured cumulative orders worth Rs.897.00 crores during the period of April- July, 2010 of current financial year 2010-11, which shows a growth of 158% over the corresponding period of last financial year.
The major projects secured recently are as under: -
Construction of various types of Residential/Non-Residential accommodations for Assam Rifles in the States of Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Delhi for a total value of Rs. 53.16 crores.
Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Yanam Region from the Reservoir of Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowlaisawarm , Andhra Pradesh valuing Rs. 46.29 crores.
Construction of buildings for M/s Bharat Dynamics Ltd at Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam (AP) valuing Rs. 21.08 crores.
2. EPI has achieved a cumulative Turnover of Rs. 297.00 crores during the period April - July, 2010 of current financial year 2010-11, which shows a growth of around 20% over the corresponding period of last financial year.
Update (April 2010)
EPI has secured following projects total valuing Rs. 775.27 crores during the month of April, 2010 :
Augmentation of Raw Material Receipt & Handling Facilities with New Ore Handling Plant, Part-B (Pkg No.061) of Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai valuing Rs. 550.82 crores.
PMC for proposed extension of Laboratory Building & New Animal House at IICB, Jadavpur Campus, Kolkata from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), Kolkata, valuing Rs.75.00 crores.
PMC for Construction of Cyclone Shelters in West Bengal from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), valuing Rs.145.00 crores.
Construction of Dormitory for Boys & Girls, various types of Staff Quarters including Development Works for Phase-B at Bongaigaon, Assam for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, valuing Rs. 4.45 crores.
EPI has achieved a Turnover of Rs.75.12 crores during the month of April 2010, which shows a growth of around 24% over the corresponding period of last financial year.
Update (March 2010)
EPI has achieved a turnover of Rs.1052.42 crores (unaudited) during the fiscal year 2009-10 which shows a growth of around 10% over the last financial year.
EPI has secured projects worth Rs. 2144.78 crores during the fiscal year 2009-10. With the high order book position, EPI is now placed on accelerated growth path.
With the consistent and dedicated efforts put in by EPI’s employees and by following prudent management practices, EPI achieved per employee productivity of Rs 2.42 crores for the year 2009-10 which is one of the best in the Indian Engineering & Construction Industry and highest among all Construction PSUs.
EPI’s performance has been rated “Excellent” under the MoU signed with the Government for the year 2008-09. Based on unaudited data, EPI’s performance for the year 2009-10 is also expected to qualify for Excellent rating.
EPI has signed the 15th MoU for the year 2010-11 with the Government. The targets are substantially higher than those in the MoU for the year 2009-10.
During the fiscal year, EPI has been conferred with the following awards:
2nd CIDC Vishwakarma Awards by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for " Best Professionally Managed Company."
"Excellent Award" by Institute of Economic Studies (IES) at Bangkok, Thailand.
"Amity Corporate Excellence Award" for "Execution of Multidisciplinary Projects" by Amity University.
Update (December 2009)
EPI has recently secured the following projects:-
1.Construction of various types of Quarters for Assam Rifles in Mizoram, Meghalaya and Assam, for a total value of Rs.54.06 crores.
2.Design, Construction & Commissioning of Water Treatment Plant (100 MLD) including O & M for Kerala Water Authority, Kochi, valuing Rs. 49.46 crores.
With this, the cumulative Order Booking achieved by EPI during the period (April – December 2009) of the current financial year 2009- 10 comes to Rs. 2062.42 crores against the target of Rs. 855.00 crores.
Update (November 2009)
1. EPI secured orders
worth Rs.250.65 crores during the month of October 2009.
The details are given below:
a) Construction of Border
Outposts(BOPs) for Border Security Force (BSF) along the
Indo-Bangladesh Border in Mizoram & Tripura for a
value of Rs. 75.65 crores
b) Construction of Flood Lighting along
Indo-Bangladesh Border in the State of Mizoram for a
value of Rs. 150.00 crores.
c) Development of Regional Centre of
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in
Bangalore for a value of Rs. 25.00 crores.
“The cumulative order booking achieved
during the first seven months (April-October 2009) of
the current financial year 2009-10 comes to Rs. 1958.40
crores against the target of Rs. 655.00 crores and shows
a growth of nearly 84% over the corresponding period of
last financial year.
2. EPI paid final
dividend of Rs. 3.54 crores to the Government of India
for the year 2008-09. The cheque was presented to Shri
Vilasrao Deshmukh, Hon’ble Minister for Heavy Industries
& Public Enterprises by Shri S.P.S Bakshi,
Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Engineering Projects
(India) Limited on 29th October 2009. Dr.Satyanaraya
Dash, Secretary (Heavy Industry), Shri Saurabh Chandra,
Addl. Secretary & Financial Advisor (Heavy
Industry), Shri Rajiv Bansal, Joint Secretary (Heavy
Industry) Shri R. Ashokan, Director (Heavy Industry),
Shri A.K.Ratwani, Director (Projects) and Shri
G.D.Moorjani, Director (Finance) of EPI and other senior
officials of Ministry and EPI were present on the
occasion. Prior to this in December 2008, EPI had paid
interim dividend of Rs. 3.54 crores for the year
2008-09. The total dividend payout by EPI to the
Government of India for the year 2008-09 is 20% of its
paid up capital of Rs. 35.42 crores
3. The Environmental
Protection Manual of EPI was formally released by the
Hon’ble Minister of HI&PE, Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh on
29th October 2009. The above dignitaries from Ministry
and EPI were also present on the occasion. The Manual
has addressed the environmental concerns in a structured
manner. Hon’ble Minister stressed upon the importance of
Environmental Protection during the course of our
activities and praised EPI for bringing out the first
Environmental Protection Manual in the Public Sector.

Update (October 2009)
1. EPI has secured an
order worth Rs. 42.71 crores for Construction of
Township Residential Building Package for Bhilai
Expansion Power Project (2 x 250 MW) at Bhilai for
NTPC-SAIL Power Pvt. Ltd. The cumulative Order Booking
achieved during the first six months ( April –
September, 2009) of the current financial year 2009 - 10
comes to Rs. 1707.75 crores against the target of Rs.
555.00 crores and shows a growth of nearly 80% over the
corresponding period of last financial year.
2. AGM of the Company
held on 29.09.2009, it has been decided to pay final
dividend of 10% (Ten percent) on paid up capital in
addition to the interim dividend of 10% (Ten percent)
already paid in December, 2008. Thus the total dividend
for the year 2008-09 is 20% (Twenty percent) on the paid
up capital of the Company.
3. EPI has prepared
Environment Protection Manual. Through this manual EPI
shares the concerns of the Government of India that all
its Departments and the Public Enterprises should take
steps so as to prevent further degradation of
environment. EPI has taken the initiatives and bought
out the Manual on Environment Protection, that will help
in spreading the message of environment protection and
implementation of practices towards bringing about a
clean and healthy environment. The Environment
Protection Manual will be rewarding for all of us in the
construction industry as it seeks to inculcate a
scientific temper on the environmental issues
encountered during project execution. It is a small step
towards the larger goal, i.e. preserving a clean and
healthy environment for the generations to come.
Update (September 2009)
EPI has secured mega
projects of Construction of Medical College &
Hospital at Baltikuri, Kolkata valuing Rs. 7617.00
million and at Joka, Kolkata valuing Rs.5145.80 million.
These are single largest value projects secured by EPI
so far in India. During the month of August, 2009, EPI
secured orders worth Rs. 13174.30 million. The
cumulative Order Booking achieved during the first five
months ( April – August, 2009) of the current financial
year 2009 - 10 comes to Rs. 16650.40 million against the
target of Rs. 4550.00 million and shows a growth of more
than 83% over the corresponding period of last financial
year.
Engineering Projects
(India) Ltd. (EPI) in association with CIDC, organized a
3-day Workshop on Project Management and Contracts
Management for senior level engineers from the North
Eastern States during the period 17th to 19th August,
2009 at Vigyan Bhavan Annexe, New Delhi. The Workshop
was sponsored by the Ministry of Development of North
Eastern Region (M/DoNER) and inaugurated by Shri Jarnail
Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Development of North
Eastern Region (DoNER).
North Eastern Region
requires infrastructure development at a fast pace. It
was in this context that this unique Workshop was
organized exclusively for participants from the North
Eastern Region. The Workshop was designed to equip the
engineers from the North Eastern States with skills on
Project Management and Contracts Management so that they
could handle the execution of various projects and all
related issues independently and bring about accelerated
development in their States. Senior level engineers of
various Government Departments of the States of
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Nagaland, and Tripura participated in the workshop.
The programme on
Project Management and Contracts Management has been
highly appreciated. As a feedback, we have received a
number of appreciation letters. Some of the comments
